The two-country East African expedition

The Twin Nations Safari

East Africa’s Top-Selling Long Cross-Border Group Adventure, This safari is one of East Africa’s most complete, comfortable, and best-selling wildlife expeditions

The 14-Day Kenya & Tanzania Midrange Shared Safari is one of East Africa’s most complete, comfortable, and best-selling wildlife expeditions, specially crafted for travelers who want to experience the legendary safari highlights of both Kenya and Tanzania without the premium cost of a private luxury journey. Designed as a shared group safari, this package allows guests to travel with fellow adventurers in professionally guided safari vehicles while enjoying handpicked midrange lodges and tented camps that provide comfort, safety, and authentic bush atmosphere throughout the trip.

Unlike shorter cross-border safaris that often feel hurried, this longer 14-day adventure gives travelers proper time inside each major ecosystem. From Kenya’s rhino sanctuaries, predator plains, and elephant parks to Tanzania’s endless Serengeti wilderness and the world-renowned Ngorongoro Crater, every destination receives meaningful exploration time rather than rushed overnight stops. This slower rhythm is exactly why longer shared combos continue to rank among the most booked East African safari styles.

Guests will journey through the Great Rift Valley, witness lions in Masai Mara, stand beneath Mount Kilimanjaro in Amboseli, cross the international border into Tanzania’s northern circuit, explore baobab-filled Tarangire, spend multiple nights in Serengeti National Park, descend into the wildlife-rich Ngorongoro Crater, and finish among the lush groundwater forests of Lake Manyara. The safari combines wildlife density, scenic diversity, cultural encounters, and the excitement of overland international travel all in one unforgettable East African experience.

With experienced bilingual guides, coordinated border logistics, comfortable shared 4×4 safari vehicles, and carefully selected midrange accommodations, Sereti Wilderness Safaris proudly offers this package as the ideal long shared safari for travelers who want maximum East African highlights at an excellent value.

Day by Day Itinerary

ARRIVAL DAY

Jomo Kenyatta International Airport / Nairobi

Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by the Sereti Wilderness Safaris Kenya operations team and transferred to your midrange hotel in Nairobi. This first evening is reserved for rest, safari briefing, and meeting fellow travelers who will join the shared group departure.

Your safari consultant will explain the full route, accommodation flow, border crossing procedures, wildlife expectations, and daily departure arrangements. Dinner and overnight in Nairobi.

— Accommodation: Midrange Hotel in Nairobi
DAY 1

Nairobi to Lake Nakuru National Park

After breakfast, depart Nairobi and descend into the dramatic Great Rift Valley toward the famous Lake Nakuru National Park, one of Kenya’s most celebrated compact wildlife sanctuaries.

Known internationally for its strong rhino conservation program, Lake Nakuru offers excellent chances of spotting both black and white rhinos along with Rothschild giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, and flamingos. After lunch, enjoy an extended afternoon game drive before dinner and overnight.

— Accommodation: Midrange Safari Lodge in Lake Nakuru
DAY 2

Lake Nakuru to Masai Mara National Reserve

After breakfast, leave the Rift Valley behind and continue southwest toward the world-famous Masai Mara National Reserve. The drive passes through Maasai pastoral lands where traditional villages define the scenery.

Arrive at Masai Mara in time for lunch, followed by an afternoon introductory game drive across the rolling savannah. Wildlife often begins immediately — giraffes, elephants, antelopes, and buffaloes. As sunset paints the Mara gold, settle into camp for dinner and overnight.

— Accommodation: Midrange Safari Camp/Lodge in Masai Mara
DAY 3

Full Day Game Drive in Masai Mara

Today is devoted entirely to a sunrise-to-sunset safari in the magnificent Masai Mara. This reserve remains one of Africa’s richest predator territories with outstanding year-round populations of lions, cheetahs, leopards, and hyenas.

With picnic lunch carried, your shared safari vehicle will spend the full day exploring deeper sectors of the reserve including river zones and open hunting plains. Masai Mara’s productivity makes this one of the strongest safari days of the entire expedition.

— Accommodation: Midrange Safari Camp/Lodge in Masai Mara
DAY 4

Masai Mara to Amboseli National Park

After an early breakfast, depart Masai Mara and begin the overland journey via Nairobi toward the elephant kingdom of Amboseli National Park. Although this is a transfer day, the scenery changes beautifully from rolling Mara plains to central Kenyan highlands.

Arrive in Amboseli by evening for dinner and overnight at the lodge, catching your first glimpse of the dry southern savannah beneath Mount Kilimanjaro.

— Accommodation: Midrange Safari Lodge in Amboseli
DAY 5

Full Day Game Drive in Amboseli National Park

Spend a full day exploring Amboseli’s open plains, swamps, and acacia habitats. Amboseli is world-renowned for its giant tusker elephants and the magnificent photographic backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro rising directly beyond the park.

Besides elephants, Amboseli regularly delivers buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest, and predators. The wetlands attract abundant birdlife while Observation Hill offers sweeping panoramic views across the basin.

— Accommodation: Midrange Safari Lodge in Amboseli
DAY 6

Amboseli to Arusha – Tanzania Border Crossing

After breakfast, depart Amboseli and drive to Namanga Border for immigration formalities. Cross-border safaris are carefully coordinated with guide handovers to ensure smooth continuation into Tanzania’s northern circuit.

After meeting your Tanzania guide, continue to Arusha town for relaxation. This overnight stop helps avoid the over-rushed transfer problem many shorter combo itineraries suffer from, allowing for a fresh start the next morning.

— Accommodation: Midrange Hotel in Arusha
DAY 7

Arusha to Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, depart for Tarangire National Park, famous for giant baobab trees, seasonal elephant migration, and huge buffalo herds. The Tarangire River acts as a magnet for animals, creating dense wildlife concentrations in beautiful golden landscapes.

Enjoy a full afternoon game drive before proceeding to the lodge for dinner and overnight. Tarangire is often considered one of Tanzania's most underrated wildlife gems.

— Accommodation: Midrange Lodge in Tarangire/Karatu Area
DAY 8

Tarangire / Karatu to Serengeti National Park

Today begins the grand journey into the legendary Serengeti National Park via the Ngorongoro highlands. The route offers changing scenery from lush highland farms to endless grass plains that suddenly open into an iconic safari landscape.

Wildlife often starts appearing long before reaching camp — zebras, giraffes, gazelles, and lions scattered across the horizon. Arrive in Serengeti with an en route game drive to your tented camp.

— Accommodation: Midrange Tented Camp in Serengeti
DAY 9

Full Day Game Drive in Serengeti National Park

A full day in Serengeti means deep exploration of one of the richest large mammal ecosystems on the planet. The park is home to huge lion prides, cheetahs, leopards, elephants, and hyenas. The vastness of Serengeti makes every sector feel different, and your guide will follow active wildlife zones.

— Accommodation: Midrange Tented Camp in Serengeti
DAY 10

Another Full Day Serengeti Safari Experience

This second full safari day gives guests additional time for predator tracking, photography, and exploration of different sectors. Early mornings are rewarding for big cat activity, while afternoons often provide elephant and giraffe movement near watercourses.

The extra day transforms this from a park visit into a true Serengeti immersion, allowing you to appreciate the ecosystem's grand scale at a relaxed pace.

— Accommodation: Midrange Tented Camp in Serengeti
DAY 11

Serengeti to Ngorongoro Conservation Area

After breakfast, enjoy a final game drive through Serengeti while exiting toward the misty volcanic rim of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. An optional stop at Olduvai Gorge may be arranged en route.

Arrive at the Ngorongoro/Karatu area for dinner and overnight surrounded by cool highland air, preparing for the crater descent tomorrow.

— Accommodation: Midrange Lodge in Ngorongoro/Karatu
DAY 12

Ngorongoro Crater Safari – Continue to Lake Manyara

After an early breakfast, descend into the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater. The crater floor offers superb chances for black rhino, lions, buffaloes, elephants, hippos, and huge zebra/wildebeest populations in a single day.

After a picnic lunch, continue to the Lake Manyara National Park area for your final evening in the Tanzanian wilderness.

— Accommodation: Midrange Lodge in Lake Manyara/Karatu
DAY 13

Lake Manyara National Park – Return to Arusha

Enjoy a morning game drive in Lake Manyara National Park, famous for its groundwater forest, monkeys, flamingos, and scenic alkaline lake beneath the Rift escarpment. Manyara provides a refreshing final contrast before the journey ends.

After lunch, drive back to Arusha for a farewell dinner and overnight, reflecting on the fourteen-day adventure across two legendary safari nations.

— Accommodation: Midrange Hotel in Arusha
