“I have been on safaris across Africa but nothing — nothing — compares to locking eyes with a silverback gorilla one metre away. Our guide’s knowledge of the gorilla families and the forest itself was extraordinary. Sereti handled every detail perfectly, from the permit acquisition to the forest walk briefing.”

FAQs
Your Questions, Answered
What is included in an East Africa tour with Sereti Wilderness Travel?
All our East Africa tours include airport transfers, all accommodation (camps and lodges as specified), all meals during the safari, park entry fees, game drives in custom 4×4 safari vehicles, certified expert guides, and a complimentary pre-departure information pack. International flights are not included unless otherwise stated.
When is the best time to visit East Africa for a safari?
East Africa offers year-round wildlife viewing. The Great Migration river crossings in Kenya’s Masai Mara peak from July to October. Tanzania’s Serengeti sees calving season January–March. Gorilla trekking in Uganda and Rwanda is excellent year-round, though the dry seasons (June–September and December–February) offer easier trekking conditions.
How do gorilla trekking permits work?
Gorilla trekking permits must be secured in advance — sometimes months ahead during peak season. Permits cost $700 per person in Uganda (Bwindi) and $1,500 per person in Rwanda (Volcanoes National Park). We handle all permit applications on your behalf as part of your tour package. Each trek is limited to 1 hour with the gorilla family.
How physically fit do I need to be for your tours?
Most game drive-based safaris in Kenya and Tanzania require minimal fitness. Gorilla trekking in Uganda and Rwanda involves hiking through dense forest at altitude (1,500–2,800m) for 2–8 hours — moderate fitness is recommended. Kilimanjaro summit treks require dedicated physical preparation. We’ll advise specifically based on the tour you book.
What vaccinations and health precautions do I need?
We recommend consulting a travel health clinic 6–8 weeks before departure. Common requirements include Yellow Fever vaccination (required for Uganda and Rwanda), malaria prophylaxis, and standard travel vaccinations. We provide a comprehensive health advisory document to all confirmed guests.
Are your tours suitable for families with children?
Many of our Kenya and Tanzania safaris are family-friendly, with some lodges offering dedicated children’s programmes. We recommend children aged 6+ for most game-drive based tours. Gorilla trekking permits are not available to travellers under 15 years old. Contact us and we’ll help design the perfect family East Africa tour.
What is your cancellation and booking policy?
We require a 30% deposit to confirm a booking, with the balance due 60 days before departure. Cancellations made 60+ days in advance receive a full deposit refund. Within 60 days, cancellation terms vary by supplier — we strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance. We’re always flexible and will work with you if circumstances change.
Do you offer single traveller safaris?
Absolutely. We welcome solo travellers on our group departure safaris, and we can also arrange private solo tours. A single supplement may apply for private room occupancy. Our small group format (max 8 guests) means solo travellers are always part of an intimate, sociable group.
